𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓: Although there was some interest from the members of the community to continue with Gala Days, it is with great sadness that we announce that Gala Days 2020 will be canceled this year as there are not enough volunteers to help continue with this community tradition.
At this time, the committee will continue to hold the Gala Days funds and assets until October 31, 2020 in the event that a committee reinstates for Gala Days 2021.
If you are interested in helping with Gala Days 2021, please contact acgaladays@yahoo.com. There are some individuals dedicated to organizing a Gala Days 2021 and the committee needs more members and volunteers to attend meetings and help organize events.

Gala Days Chair(s) (1 or 2 people needed)
· Is a member of the committee and attend meetings · Serves as the Chief Volunteer of the organization · Is a partner with all the Executive in achieving the organization's mission · Provides leadership to the Gala Days Executives, who sets policy that all Executive are accountable · Chairs meetings of the committee after developing the agenda · Encourages Executives’ role in strategic planning · Discusses issues confronting the organization with the Executives · Helps guide and mediate committee actions with respect to organizational priorities and governance concerns · Builds relationships and book vendors for Gala Days events · Reviews any issues of concern to the Executives · Monitors financial planning and financial reports · Creates and overseas fundraising events to financially support Gala Days · Plays a leading role in event activities · Formally evaluates the performance of the Executives and informally evaluates the effectiveness of the committee members · Performs other responsibilities assigned by the committee · Overseas all the events, and any concerns the weekend of the Gala Days Event
Secretary (1 person needed)
· Is a member of the committee and attend meetings · Maintains records of the committee and ensures effective management of organization's records · Manages minutes of committee meetings · Ensures minutes are distributed to members shortly after each meeting · Helps with Gala Days’ events
Sponsorship (1 or 2 people needed)
· Is a member of the committee and attend meetings · Create and distribute sponsorship package to local companies that align with the values of Gala Days · Obtains substantial event sponsorships annually event · Tracks sponsorship income, ensures invoiced and paid · Ensures sponsor agreements and recognition are correctly implemented · Helps with fundraising events to financially support Gala Days · Provides backfill for other positions as necessary · Any other duties as required · Helps with Gala Days’ events
Committee Members (10+ people needed)
· Attend meetings • Help with planning of Gala Days’ events • Help with set up and/or tears down of Gala Days’ events • Help with volunteer-run events at Gala Days and events that support Gala Days • Sell Tickets or fun food booth type events
Treasurer (1 person needed)
As treasurer, you will be responsible for the issuing of cheques to pay the vendors at the annual Gala Days event. As well, you will be the person in charge of making the deposits of any monies coming in to the Gala Days organization. The balancing of the account is also one of your responsibilities. Before each meeting you will do a treasurer’s report stating the current balance and any outstanding cheques to report to the board and committee members. You will also be required to attend these meetings as you are considered part of the board. You will need to reimburse any expenses incurred to individuals pertaining to the Gala Days event, as they are presented to you, in a timely manner. There are two signees in the past for cheques. There is a black box, which you will receive that you will be responsible for keeping any filing in of any and all invoices or expense requests that you have issued payment for. Prior to the Gala Days event, you will need to arrange for any and all float monies each event will require. You should go to the bank at least two weeks before Gala Days, if not earlier, for this. There are examples in the files of what I have done in past years if needed. When Gala Days is over you will be responsible for depositing and balancing the float monies and any profit made. A report will need to be made to present to the board and committee regarding any profit or losses for the event. Your presence will be required throughout the event as a volunteer for wherever help is needed. On average you will only spend about half an hour before each meeting with the treasurer’s report. The calculating balancing of the floats before and after Gala Days usually takes about 2-3 hours each time. You will need to be available for Friday morning set-up and volunteering Friday night through to Sunday afternoon clean up, so you might as say your weekend is booked.
